This piece, which I call “Dahlia Harvest” was made as a custom order for a gentleman who wanted a special and meaningful gift for his wife. She has a garden full of all sorts of dahlias that she harvests in a big bucket. He sent me an image of one of her harvests in her bucket and asked me to recreate it as a wall hanging. This was a difficult piece, for sure, but also one of my favorites. It gave me the opportunity to study several different types of Dahlias, which was a real treat.
The beaded bucket had to be made with a flat back, which was a challenge, but it turned out so well! I even imitated the white rope handle by wrapping twisted strands of beads around a very thick wire. The finished piece is 16 inches wide and 14 inches tall (40 x 35 cm) and weighed around 6 lbs (almost 3 kg). The full piece took approximately 2 months to complete.
